Virtual Tour

This Virtual Tour through YUCoM collection is a brief presentation of some of the vintage computer hardware designed and/or manufactured in Canada. You will also find software, photographs, trade brochures, and other artifacts representing and documenting the development of the Canadian microcomputer industry and its impact on Canadian culture.

The Department of Computer Science was formed at York University in 1972. The computational resources available to the faculty and students were organized around the IBM System 360 mainframe computer located in the Computing Center. The following images provide a rare glimpse into the computing past at York.
