Directions to York's Department of Computer Science & Engineering
The Department is located in the new Computer Science & Engineering
Building (CSEB) at York University's Downsview/Keele campus.
The closest street address is 136 Ottawa Road, which works in Google
maps, but not all GPS units recognize this address. Here are a few maps.
- Overview map
of Toronto.
- Campus map
of York's Keele Campus. The Computer Science & Engineering Building has
number 19 and is located directly north of the central complex (between
buildings called Steacie and Farquharson).

Directions how to get here by
public transit,
a (large)
public transport map, and a
Subway map.
- Directions by car of if coming from the airport.
Travel to/from Toronto Pearson airport is easiest with a limo/cab.
Ask the driver to go to York University's Keele/Downsview campus via
the 401 and 400 highways. Exit at Steeles, proceed east past Jane St,
enter the campus at the North West Gate and proceed east on Ian
McDonald Blvd. Turn right at the second pedestrian crossing on Ian
McDonald onto Ottawa Rd (right), then follow the turn to the left, and take
the second right, which brings you right in front of the north end
of the CSEB building.
The following
Google map
shows most of the road network on campus.
The official address for the building is on Campus Walk, which is not accessible by car.
The arrow is on 136 Ottawa Road, at the little loop that serves as access the north end of the CSEB building
(CSEB is south-south-east of the map point).

Parking
Please note that there is no free parking at York, but sometimes the
booths are not manned in the evenings. I recommend that visitors park
either in the Arboretum lanes parkade (hourly rates) or in lot 5V
(just off Steeles, in the north west corner of the campus, $7 flat rate
in 2004). See the
campus map.
Nearby Accomodation
The most convenient option is the Schulich Executive Learning Center at York, a hotel-like facility directly on campus.
Other on-campus visitor accomodation facilities are typically available only during the summer term (generally from May to August).
The following hotels/motels are approximately 3-4 km away (40-50 minutes by foot,
5 min by car/cab).
A nice place for dinner is e.g.
Giorgio D
(416) 661-8989, 4377 Steeles Ave. W or Tremonti, 3850 Steeles Ave W,
(905) 856-6600 (both not open on Sundays).
Another one is Pane e Vino,
8383 Weston Road, South of Langstaff, 905-265-8466 (open on Sundays).
The following hotels are a little further away (10-15 minutes by car/cab).
Some of the student residences downtown are another form of cheap accomodation.
One such place is e.g. Tartu College.
