The presentation examines an overview of Horus group communication system. The Horus system offers flexible group communication support for distributed applications. It is highly modular and extensible allowing users to develop groupware applications with different communication needs to coexist in a single system. It supports several programming languages like C, C++, and ML. The Horus system uses a virtual synchrony model to introduce replication, coordination, and fault tolerance in distributed computing systems. It has been successfully applied in financial computer networks, telecommunication systems.
