Prof. Marvin Mandelbaum had a wide range of research interests
York Professor Marvin Mandelbaum died on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at home. He
taught in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering in York's
Faculty of Science & Engineering.
Prof. Mandelbaum received his PhD in industrial engineering from the
University of Toronto in 1978. He was keenly interested in a variety
of subjects, and was most recently researching flexibility in
decision-making, decision theory and analysis, transportation systems
and computer modelling, mutliple autonomous agent cooperation and
queuing theory.
The flag will be lowered to half-mast at sunrise today and will remain
at half-mast until 1pm Saturday, in commemoration of Prof. Mandelbaum.
The husband of the late Beatrice Mandelbaum, Prof. Mandelbaum was the
father and father-in-law of Saul Mandelbaum and Melissa Nutik, Aaron
Mandelbaum and Karen. He had two grandchildren.
A memorial service and shiva for Prof. Mandelbaum has taken place. The
family requests that memorial donations be made to the Marvin
Mandelbaum Memorial Fund, to be directed to Technion University in
