Continue
with the topic that you presented on.
You will investigate this topic a bot more,
refine it,
and cast a small research proposal.
The report is be written as a proposal
for research work to be done.
(You will not actually do that research.
Your work here is to identify a viable research problem
in information integration that you feel deserves to be addressed.)
The task is to identify an unaddressed problem
which would be useful to address,
to conduct a small literature search with respect to the problem,
and to propose a methodology by which the problem could potentially be
addressed.
Choose another decent research paper or two
that is related to tge paper you presented in class
for the background for the report.
(One way to find this is papers that cited the one you presented.)
The report is to be written in conference-paper format
in the VLDB (double column) format.
It should have
- an abstract,
- an introduction which describes and motivates the problem at hand,
and demonstrates the importance of the problem,
- a related works section which demonstrates evidence
that the problem is unresolved,
- a methodologies section in which you propose how the problem might be
successfully addressed,
- conclusions, and
- a proper bibliograpghy.
It should be short (∼4 pages).
Due date is Friday 20 December.
Email a PDF to the instructor.
