Mar 19, 2008 – If you wish to prepare for Steven's presentations next week, here are links to the two papers that will be the focus of his presentations: UniGest: Text-entry using three degrees of motion | Graffiti vs. Unistrokes: An empirical comparison As well, here is a link to a paper by Chris Klochek and that froms part of his MSc thesis: Performance measures of game controllers in a three-dimensional environment

Mar 18, 2008 – As already noted, I will be attending a conference next week.  Just to give you a heads up, here is what is planned for the final three weeks (six lectures) of the course:

·         Tuesday, March 18 – presentation on Empirical Research Methods

·         Thursday, March 20 – finish presentation on Empirical Research Methods

·         Tuesday, March 25 – Course evaluation, followed by Steven Castellucci presentation called "UniGest: Text-entry using three degrees of motion".  This presentation is quite short, so Steven will also give a presentation called "Graffiti vs. Unistrokes: An empirical comparison".

·         Thursday, March 27 – Steven Castellucci presentation on Chapter 10, Universal Design

·         Tuesday, April 1 – class rescheduled to CSE3033, 11:00-12:30. MSc oral exam presentation by Chris Klochek on "Performance metrics of video-game input devices"

Mar 12, 2008 – We had a discussion in class yesterday about the threshold for significance when testing hypotheses.  I mentioned that the accepted threshold is p < .05 and mentioned that this is the same as the expression "19 times in 20" that we so often read concerning the significance of opinion polls.  Click here for an example published in the Toronto Star last week.
