To: All Students in Faculty of Science and Engineering From: W. A. van Wijngaarden, Chair of FSE Council Date: Jan. 6, 2006 Subject: Solicitation of Nominations for FSE Dean Search Committee Happy New Year to all of you. As you may recall, President Marsden decided late last year to not reappoint the present Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering for another term. A committee to search for a new Dean is therefore being put together. This committee will be chaired by Vice President S. Embleton and will begin its work shortly after she returns from a trip to India during the week of January 23. In keeping with established custom, Vice President Embleton has directed that either an undergraduate or graduate FSE student be elected as a voting member of the Dean Search Committee. This memo therefore requests nominations for this position. Feel free to nominate yourself or someone else provided of course they agree. All individuals nominated must be current undergraduate or graduate students in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Nominations should be sent to J. Lavigne at jlavigne@yorku.ca in the FSE Administrative Office in 352 Lumbers. The deadline for receiving nominations is Friday January 13 at 4:30 pm. Undergraduates will vote at the FSE administrative office in 325 Lumbers which will be open on the mornings of Thursday, January 19 and Friday, January 20 between 8:30 am and 1:00 pm. Graduate students will vote in their respective department offices on the same dates but at times that may be slightly different to accommodate graduate secretaries. All students must show their York registration card in order to vote. The outcome of the vote will be available the following Monday. Thank you for your assistance in this important matter.
