Position: Usability Specialist

We’re looking for a Usability Specialist whose responsibilities will include
applying user-centered design and evaluation skills to the development of
Hummingbird’s portal and data integration solutions.  The incumbent will
work closely with customers, software engineering, technical documentation,
quality assurance, design services, professional services, sales, and
marketing to ensure usable, innovative product design and will possess a
demonstrated drive to understand and create products from the user’s point
of view.

Experience:
* Bachelor or Master’s degree in Human Factors, HCI, Psychology, Industrial
Design, Technical Writing, Computer Science or related field or an
equivalent combination of education and job experience
* 3-4 years of experience designing web-based applications
* High degree of experience in web technologies, including HTML, CSS, and
javascript

The successful candidate will utilize their experience and ability in:
* Developing and documenting user personas, scenarios of use, interaction
models, and detailed design specifications
* Designing user interaction and interface
* Conducting usability studies
* Building user interface prototypes
* Setting guidelines and standards

This role will require that the incumbent possess:
* The ability to conceptualize complex systems and to deliver usable designs
that deliver power and satisfaction to customers
* Excellent communication skills to work effectively with various in-house
and external clients
* Must be self-motivated, resourceful and creative
* Excellent organizational skills
* Knowledge of Hummingbird products and systems would be an asset
* Ability to travel when necessary to training, client support, or corporate
events
